Defensive Pistol III
COURSE DESCRIPTION
Who should attend: Police, Military, Security and Civilian
Prerequisite: Defensive Pistol II or proof of attendance at an intermediate level pistol class from a reputable training entity. Students requesting deferral of DP II class should contact Midwest Tactical Training for further.
The purpose of this class is to further the student’s understanding and performance capability related to skills needed to survive an armed critical incident. During the Defensive Pistol III course, students will shoot from concealment after initial introduction of requisite skills.

- * 5 step presentation from concealment
- * Shooting on the move
- * Extreme close quarter engagements
- * Extreme long range engagements
- * Precision shooting/congested area engagements
- * Shooting from a seated position
- * Counter carjacking/vehicle defense tactics
- * Street robbery tactics
- * Home invasion tactics
- * Bank/business robbery tactics
- * Exfiltration considerations
- * PP presentation – Staying Alive in a Tough World
- * Weak hand shooting
- * Night shoot/interior movements
- * Off body carry considerations & equipment selection
- * Link up procedures with police review
- * Medical review
- * Man on man competition
GEAR & AMMO REQUIREMENTS
- Equipment list:
- * Service grade pistol in 9mm, 40 or 45 cal. or revolver with minimum 4 in. barrel in 38/357 cal or larger
- * Belt holster, magazine pouch and belt (students may use outside the waist band or inside the waist band holsters after concealed carry principles have been introduced. SERPA holsters are not permitted)
- * 3 extra magazines if 10 round capacity or greater. 5 extra magazines if capacity is less than 10
- * Eye and hearing protection
- * Knee and elbow pads
- * Clothing appropriate for the climate
- * Rain gear
- * Cover garment for concealed carry exercises
- * Off body carry system if desired
- * Sunscreen/lip balm
- * Water bottle or hydration system
- * Range bag to carry gear
- * Medical kit – should include tourniquet, 2 rolls gauze, 1 roll Kling gauze, 1 pr bandage scissors all contained in a gallon size Ziplok bag
- * 700 rounds of ammunition appropriate for the student’s pistol
