Who should attend: Military, police & civilians who may be engaged in close range use of force encounters.
Course description: This 2 day class will allow the participant to develop “arms length” skills for managing a lethal encounter. Skills presented will include armed and empty hand skills all at “bad breath” distance. During this class ½ the training on day 1 will be spent on the range and ½ in the class room developing empty hand skills. Training day 2 will be spent integrating the skills developed on day 1 during range drills. Topics presented will include:

* Balance as a prerequisite of effective fighting
* Controlling the center
* 5 steps of accurate shot placement at CQT distance
* 5 step presentation at CQT distance
* Shooting from retention
* Movement
* Empty hand cover techniques
* Ballistic push
* Open hand vs closed fist strikes
* Hammer fist strikes and “cycling”
* Transition from strikes to pistol
* Transition from retention to eye level shooting
* Close range moving targets
* Link up with police review
* Medical review
GEAR & AMMO REQUIREMENTS
Equipment list:
* Service grade pistol in 9mm, 40 or 45 cal. or revolver with minimum 4 in. barrel in 38 or 357 magnum caliber or larger
* Belt holster, magazine pouch and belt (holster must be an outside the waist band model. Inside the waistband and SERPA holsters are not permitted in this class)
* 3 extra magazines if 10 round capacity or greater. 5 extra magazines if capacity is less than 10
* Eye and hearing protection
* Clothing appropriate for the weather
* Rain gear
* Sunscreen/lip balm
* Water bottle or hydration system
* Range bag to carry gear
* Medical kit containing tourniquet, 2 rolls gauze, 1 roll Kling gauze, 1 pair bandage scissors all contained in a gallon size Ziploc bag
* 500 rounds of ammunition in the appropriate caliber for the student’s pistol
